Stroll and sip in downtown Whiteville? The city could consider a social district

Whiteville may be establishing its own social district — a designated area where people can enjoy alcoholic beverages in the open air — to encourage residents and visitors to stroll, sip and shop downtown. Staff photo by Joseph Williams

At Whiteville City Council’s June 12 meeting, Council Member Helen Holden floated the idea of designating a so-called social district in the city.
