Whiteville Council meets twice Tuesday

Two Whiteville City Council meetings will be held Tuesday. The first, at 5:30 p.m., will be a special called meeting to update council members on where the police department stands in the certification process by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The second session, at the regular meeting time of 6:30 p.m., has a very brief agenda with no action items listed for discussion.

To comply with social distancing guidelines and help prevent the spread of COVID-19, both meetings will be virtual, or via computer. The virtual meetings will be broadcast for viewing by the public via the City’s webpage, . Members of the public may submit written comments by emailing the comments to
