A successful boys tennis season for the Whiteville Wolfpack came to an end Friday as Bridger Warlick was defeated in singles and the doubles team of Tyler Floyd and Tanner Hester also lost.

Warlick lost to Newton-Conover’s Brann Reid. Reid, a junior, went on to win his third consecutive 2A championship. Floyd and Hester lost to the Brevard doubles team of Duval and Schrader.

Still, it was a successful season for the Wolfpack. WHS breezed through regular season play undefeated (16-0). The Wolfpack lost a close 5-3 dual team match to fifth-ranked Greene Central in the opening round. Warlick, Floyd and Hester were the first Whiteville boys tennis players to participate in the state tournament since the late 1990s.
