Williamson wins Whiteville council seat, Leder re-elected

Political newcomer Kevin Williamson was the top vote getter among three Whiteville City Council District 1 candidates seeking two seats Tuesday.

Williamson received 315 votes. Longtime council member Robert Leder won re-election with 226 votes. Challenger Marc McGee, a retired Whiteville police officer, received 77 votes.
